About

Originally from the UK and for the last 13 years loving life in New Zealand. After a few years serving as a Police Officer in the UK, I got to stretch my legs further as a Teacher and Counsellor.

Fast forward a few years and I completed a Post Grad in Counselling and then a Master in Education at Auckland University. I have two beautiful wee ones and a stellar family life. Since starting my private counselling practice (theboatshedcounselling.com) I have continued to embrace heaps of new challenges and opportunities. TV, radio and media has become a surprising regular feature of my life. This blog is my little bit of reflection time so its slow and steady.

I run parenting courses/inputs including the Triple P (Positive Parenting Programme), as well as Tweens to Teens (The Parenting Place, NZ). I work with couples, families and children. You will pick up in my posts what my passions and areas of specialism are.

As for what to expect in my posts, well, I’m not quite sure myself yet, but it will certainly be around wellbeing, counselling, parenting, relationships and a whole heap in between.

One area in particular that is a particular passion of mine is around adolescent identity and connectedness, and how strengths and challenges can keep our young folk on a good course or -as I see way too often- spiraling down a different path. This I’m sure will make sense along the way.
